life goes on…and the cinderella dresses go out

It is Avery’s 7th birthday eve eve here at our house. Spring Break is in full effect and while most children are out laughing and frolicking in the sun, mine are inside today helping clean house and purge closets. What? They love to dust and scrub toilets.

Not a lot of clothing can be passed down from Tay to A but you can’t blame me for trying. So today the summer clothes came forward and the job of trying things on ensued. It went pretty quick and while we were on a roll, I had her go through her ever overflowing basket of dress up clothes.

And then she said it. I knew this day was coming someday. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 3:30 in the afternoon, Ave announced in a gentle way, so as not to hurt my feelings (as if), that she “does not like Princess stuff.”

Holy cow. It’s over.

I don’t think she count’s Tinkerbell as a princess because she is ALL ABOUT the Tink pinata for her birthday party this weekend. She also likes Ariel, but she doesn’t categorize her as a princess even though Disney does. Avery does her own thing. This is nothing new to any of us who know her.

  1. My baby just celebrated her “Sweet 16” last week. The time goes WAY too fast!

  2. So, uhm, if you have a stash of princess dress up stuff over there that needs a new home, lemmeknow?

  3. Okay, I’m confused. Why is there a baby car seat in your living room floor?

    Happy Birthday to your Avery.

  4. @Tam We were at a friends house and B is talking to a baby while Ave was standing there watching him. 🙂

  5. A sweet moment.
